The individual has been identified as Tarak Saha, a resident of Gandhi Colony in the Uttarpara area under the Berhampore municipality. A senior police official stated that Saha's family expressed concerns about his mental state, particularly after he learned that his name was absent from the 2002 voter list.

According to family members, Saha became increasingly anxious upon realizing that he lacked any documentation to prove his status as a legitimate voter.
